October- Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that October is breast cancer awareness month?

In Canada, about 11% of women will develop breast cancer by the time they reach 90 years of age. Just about 20% of breast cancers in Canada are diagnosed in women under 50, while almost 30% are diagnosed in women over 70 years of age

The pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness. Pink ribbons, and the color pink in general, identify the wearer or promoter with the breast cancer brand and express moral support for women with breast cancer.

Below are a few events happening in and around Ottawa to support those diagnosed with breast cancer, supporters of friends or family members with breast cancer, survivors of breast cancer and anyone else who wants to help the cause.

Sat Oct 19th from 10am-4pm- Embrun Health and Wellness Day

Sat Nov 23rd from 6pm- 1am (Nov 24th) -Breast Cancer Action Ottawa Annual Gala
